Margate Park, in the northeast corner of Uptown, features lovely tree-lined streets with a historic feel, as it has many mansions that date back to the 1900s. A well-located lakefront neighborhood, many individuals and developers are dedicated to salvaging its architectural heritage.
What to do in Margate Park
With Lake Shore Drive as its eastern border, it faces Lincoln Park (the stretch of beaches and parks that borders Lake Michigan). It gives ample opportunitiy for running, boating, volleyball, fishing, biking, and enjoying the lake. It is not far from Montrose Harbor, a beautiful marina for sailing boats and motorboats, and Foster Beach.
Its location makes the downtown very accessible with only a 15-minute drive, or a ride on the CTA's Red Line. Plus, the exciting Lakeview and Wrigleyville neighborhoods are just a quick cab ride away.
Margate Park's Distinctive Housing
Margate Park has many vintage condominiums and single-family mansions dating from the early 1900s. Along North Marine Drive and facing Lake Michigan are many high-rise condominiums and apartment buildinges from the 1950s and 1960s.
